2023 KMSD Community Survey Results
KMSD Community Survey Results, Part I:
First, the good news. The Fall Community Survey shows that our community has high confidence in Kettle Moraine educators and students’ preparedness for post high school education. The chart below shows the top five items that received the most favorable ratings from KMSD staff, parents, and other community members.
The full report has more detail about other areas that were highly rated by the community (and there were many)... Take a look for yourself and see how these perceptions in the fall survey line-up with what you experience and hear about the Kettle Moraine School District. We’ve also included a link below to the verbatim anonymous comments from the fall survey obtained recently from the district via open records request.
KMSD Community Survey Results, Part 2
Now for the bad news. While parents, staff, and community members have high confidence in our educators and students’ preparedness for post high school education, a large share of parents, staff, and residents do not agree that the school board is working to make our district successful.
Whether in spring or fall of 2023, the school board sits at the bottom of each survey. This image is from the fall 2023 community survey, showing the two items that received the least favorable ratings from KM staff, parents, and community members.
In the spring 2023 survey of staff and parents, KM scored very low. Among about 100 Wisconsin districts using this survey, Only 2 districts had their staff rate their school board worse than KM and only 14 districts out of 100 had their parents more disappointed in their school board. KM’s school board can do better.
KMSD Community Survey Results, Part 3
Parents, staff, and community members have high confidence in our educators. Our District staff and parents have high confidence in our Administration. But our School Board can do better, based on survey results from Spring and Fall of 2023.
Our district deserves School Board members who:
Act on what the community is saying with these survey results
Hear all community members’ perspectives, rather than restricting opportunities for public comment
Don’t disregard District staff survey results as ‘emotional’, take their concerns seriously
Gain a level of trust akin to that of the KM teachers, staff, and administrators
Uphold the highly rated quality of KM schools
Lead by respecting all stakeholders
Foster a positive environment to attract and retain high quality teachers and staff members
Focus on preserving the choice of innovative learning environments that meet students’ needs
Focus on safe and welcoming schools for all
Define school policies centered around children instead of political ideologies
